Part 3: Collaborative Divorce
In a collaborative divorce, a team supports you. You and your spouse each hire your own attorneys. You negotiate agreements with your spouse during informal meetings, while your attorneys will be there to advise you. Depending on the circumstances of your case, you can hire other professionals to assist you. These can be financial advisors, child therapists, counselors, or other experts. Each of you can also hire a divorce coach who will help you with the emotional challenges.
Collaborative divorce can be very effective. Instead of getting decisions imposed on you by a judge, you negotiate what works best for you. You make the final decisions and retain control.
