Divorce Mediation
Divorce mediation is voluntary and informal. A neutral third party, the mediator, assists you in reaching an agreement. Only you and your spouse will make decisions, which is a big difference to court hearings where a judge decides your case. During the mediation, the focus is on your needs and interests to help you reach mutually acceptable results. The whole process is private and confidential.
Divorce mediation can be more efficient and less costly and parties are often more satisfied with the results because they voluntarily agreed to the solutions. The goal is to reach an agreement that is acceptable to both of you and that will be honored in the future.
Not all divorce situations are suited for the mediation process. Moreover, not all divorce mediations result in settlements. Often, however, mediation does leave the parties more satisfied and empowered compared to divorces decided in court.
